How did a half marathon completely change my everyday life?
My preparations for a half marathon began with incorporating it into my daily routine
Running is my everyday life, but it has never been at such a high level before. Deciding to do a half marathon made me realize that my daily workouts would have to evolve. The declared 21.0975 km was a huge challenge for me. And so, running became not only a way to maintain fitness, but also my personal mission.
Creating a training plan became my priority
The key to creating an effective training plan was understanding that it’s not all about running. Of course, endurance and speed were crucial, but strength exercises, stretching, and proper diet and hydration were also important. One of the biggest challenges was understanding how to balance all these elements to create an effective and realistic training schedule. The most important aspect of this process was realizing that I am only human and need rest as much as intense training.
Half marathon goals became my daily goals
When my training plan started working, I subconsciously began to think about my daily life in the context of how it contributes to my goal of running a half marathon. Every decision I made was now filtered through the lens of how it translates to my training and ultimate goal. This was a change not only in my mindset but also in my lifestyle itself.
